Expert take — Cost of Asia editorial team Several Bali schools charge a capital levy every year, not only on entry: Bali Island School's 2026-27 schedule adds IDR 22 million to 28.5 million a year on top of tuition, and charges IB exams separately. At that school, the levy adds between about 9% and 40% to tuition depending on grade. Ask every school for its total annual fee for your child's grade, plus any early-payment discount and its deadline.
Bali has a small group of established international schools spread across the south of the island: Sanur and Denpasar in the east, Canggu and Umalas on the west coast, and the Abiansemal and Ubud side inland. Headline tuition is only part of the cost: yearly levies and one-time fees add up.
This page is for families moving to Bali who want a short list based on curriculum, accreditation and published fees. The big trade-off is location. Drives between these areas take a long time at peak hours, so let the school decide where you rent, not the other way around.

How we chose
- Accreditation or exam-board recognition (IB, CIS, WASC, Cambridge, AEFE), as published by the school or a reference guide.
- Published fees, with a preference for the school's own 2026-27 documents.
- Curriculum range and coverage of the main family areas.
We used fee schedules from Bali Island School and Green School, an independent schools guide, and the What's New Indonesia school directory. Third-party figures are labeled as such. Checked on 31 October 2026.
1. Bali Island School — best for a full IB pathway
Bali Island School, in Sanur, offers the IB Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma programs. Two independent guides list CIS and WASC accreditation, and one describes it as the island's only full IB continuum school.
Its 2026-27 schedule lists total yearly fees (tuition plus capital levy) from IDR 76.85 million for half-day preschool to IDR 330.27 million in Grades 11 and 12. IB exams cost an extra 185 USD per exam, or 1,110 USD for the full set, billed in rupiah. Paying the full year by 11 April earned a 5% tuition discount this cycle, and installments carry a 1.5% surcharge.
2. Canggu Community School — best for a British curriculum on the west coast
Canggu Community School, founded in 2011 and located on Jalan Subak Sari, follows the English National Curriculum to Cambridge IGCSE and then the IB Diploma in Years 12 and 13. An independent guide converts its tuition to roughly 6,450 USD in Early Years and 15,000 USD in the IB years. It also lists yearly capital and materials levies of IDR 30 million to 40 million and a refundable IDR 50 million deposit. Ask the school directly which accreditations it holds, since the guide's information conflicts.
3. Green School Bali — best for nature-based, project learning
Green School sits in Sibang Kaja, Abiansemal, inland from Canggu. It teaches a project-based program with a US-style high school diploma and is WASC accredited, according to an independent guide, which puts 2025/26 tuition at IDR 178 million to 319 million.
Its own 2026-27 fee schedule confirms a one-time admission fee of IDR 40 million per child, plus yearly family charges, including an IDR 8.5 million local scholar levy. High school students pay an extra activity fee of IDR 7.25 million.
