Expert take — Cost of Asia editorial team Vinmec's own accreditation page names only two JCI-accredited hospitals in its network, Times City in Hanoi and Central Park in Ho Chi Minh City, and none of the Da Nang sources we checked lists a JCI-accredited hospital in the city. For everyday and emergency care, Da Nang's private hospitals and clinics serve expats well. For a planned major procedure, ask your insurer in advance whether it will cover treatment, or a transfer, to a JCI hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi or abroad.

Da Nang has one large private international hospital, an expat-focused clinic, a private hospital group with wide insurance links, and the city's main public hospital. A practical setup is to register with a clinic for routine care and know which hospital you'll use for emergencies and admissions.

The main trade-off is service against scope: private options handle English and insurance paperwork more smoothly, while the public hospital takes the most serious cases but has limited English. We label each pick by the need it serves; we don't rank medical outcomes.

Vietnam merged and renamed many districts and wards in 2025, so official addresses may now differ from the district names used below (Hai Chau, Thanh Khe).

1. Vinmec Da Nang International Hospital — best for private inpatient and emergency care

Vinmec Da Nang is on 30 Thang 4 Street in Hoa Cuong, in the Hai Chau area. Bao Da Nang reported its opening in September 2017 as a 222-bed Vingroup hospital covering internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and pediatrics, with strengths in emergency resuscitation, cardiovascular intervention and imaging.

VietnamTourism.com lists a 24-hour emergency service, staff who speak English, and listings by the French, UK and Australian embassies. Its main number is +84 236 3711 111. It isn't on Vinmec's list of JCI-accredited hospitals, so ask your insurer whether it bills Vinmec Da Nang directly.

2. Family Medical Practice Da Nang — best for routine care in English

Family Medical Practice's Da Nang clinic is at 96–98 Nguyen Van Linh Street, Hai Chau. The UK government's list describes it as a private clinic offering general practice, emergency medicine and international repatriation, with English-speaking staff.

VietnamTourism.com notes that it has no emergency department, but its emergency line answers 24/7 (*9999 or +84 913 917 303). It suits expats who want a regular family doctor in English, and help arranging repatriation if something serious happens.

3. Hoan My Da Nang Hospital — best for direct billing

Hoan My Da Nang is a private hospital on Nguyen Van Linh Street in Thanh Khe, part of the Hoan My group. VietnamTourism.com says it is open 24 hours, has staff who speak English, Chinese and Japanese, and, according to the hospital, bills more than 30 insurers directly.

If your insurer is on its list, you avoid paying up front and claiming later. Directories give different street numbers, so confirm the address in advance.

4. Da Nang Hospital — best for major public care

Da Nang Hospital, at 124 Hai Phong Street in Hai Chau, is the city's largest hospital and dates back to before 1945, according to Wikipedia. It's the public referral hospital for serious cases and runs a 24-hour emergency department.

The UK government lists its English as limited, so bring a Vietnamese speaker if you can, and expect paperwork in Vietnamese.

5. Vinmec Central Park or Times City — best for complex planned treatment

For major elective surgery or complex specialist care, consider traveling. Vinmec names Times City in Hanoi and Central Park in Ho Chi Minh City as its JCI-accredited hospitals. Check that your policy covers treatment outside your home city and transfers, and get a guarantee of payment before you travel.

What to check before you decide

  • Direct billing: ask your insurer which Da Nang facilities it bills directly, for outpatient and inpatient care. Without it, VietnamTourism.com warns, you may pay a deposit or the full bill on the spot.
  • Your insurer's assistance line: call it first in an emergency to arrange a guarantee of payment or evacuation.
  • Emergency numbers: 115 for an ambulance, 113 for police, 114 for fire.
  • The route: check how long it takes to reach your chosen emergency department from home at rush hour.
