Expert take — Cost of Asia editorial team The school you choose in Phuket decides where you should live: iSchoolAdvisor's October 2026 guide puts UWC Thailand, in Thalang, about 10 minutes from the airport but 40 minutes or more at peak for families coming from the south. BISP, in central Koh Kaew, sits on Thepkrasattri Road, which the same guide says is heavy at school-run times. If you want to live in Rawai or Chalong, look first at the schools in the south, or rent near the campus you choose.
Phuket has a compact but varied international school scene, with British, IB, American, Canadian and French options. Fees vary widely: Phuket 101's October 2026 survey of 2026/27 tuition runs from about THB 200,000 to just under THB 1 million a year.
The big decision is location. The island is long, and most families pick a school first and a neighborhood second. Our guide to the best areas in Phuket for families helps with the next step.

1. British International School Phuket — best for boarding, sport and a choice of A level or IB
BISP is in Koh Kaew, on Thepkrasattri Road. Its fee page lists the IB Diploma, BTEC Level 3 diplomas in sport and business, and IGCSE exams. Phuket 101 describes it as the island's largest and most expensive school, known for its sports academies and long primary waiting lists.
For 2026/27, tuition is THB 489,000 for Nursery and Reception, THB 750,000 for Years 1 to 3, and THB 982,700 for Years 9, 10 and 12. Weekly boarding for Years 7 to 13 costs THB 457,800 and full boarding THB 509,300. New families pay a THB 6,000 application fee, a placement fee of THB 200,000 for one child or THB 250,000 for a family with more than one, and a refundable THB 150,000 bond.
2. UWC Thailand — best for the full IB continuum
UWC Thailand, in Thalang in the north of the island, teaches the IB from early years through the Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma programs. It is a not-for-profit foundation school and one of 18 schools in the UWC movement. It offers boarding as well as day places.
The school publishes its 2026/27 fees as a downloadable document. Phuket 101 lists 2026/27 tuition of THB 345,000 to THB 933,000, plus a THB 265,000 one-off fee. It suits families in the north of the island or near the airport, and those who want IB from start to finish.
3. HeadStart International School — best for a British curriculum at a mid-range fee
HeadStart's main campus is in Wichit, in the center of the island, with a second campus in Cherng Talay on the west coast. iSchoolAdvisor lists a British program running from the Early Years Foundation Stage through Cambridge primary to IGCSE and A level or BTEC.
Phuket 101 puts 2026/27 tuition at THB 347,000 to THB 540,000, plus a THB 100,000 one-off fee. That is roughly half BISP's top fee.

4. Kajonkiet International School — best for a central location on a budget
Kajonkiet is in Kathu, between Phuket Town and Patong, which iSchoolAdvisor notes is practical for families near Patong or the west coast. It teaches a British curriculum to IGCSE and A level and is a day school.
Phuket 101 lists 2026/27 tuition of THB 200,000 to THB 454,000 and a THB 60,000 one-off fee. That makes it one of the lowest-cost schools on the island with a full British pathway to 18.
5. Berda Claude International School — best for French-speaking families in the south
Berda Claude International School (BCIS), in Chalong, runs a British program to IGCSE and A level alongside a French section. Phuket 101 notes that it takes children from 18 months. Its 2026/27 tuition is THB 302,000 to THB 502,500, plus a THB 75,000 one-off fee.
Its southern location suits families in Chalong, Rawai and Kata, who would otherwise face the longest drives to UWC or BISP.
What to check before you decide
- Ask for the school's own fee sheet and a full first-year invoice, including one-off and refundable amounts.
- Drive the school run at peak time from your planned neighborhood.
- Confirm the age range on each campus, especially where a school has more than one site.
- Budget for extras. Phuket 101 estimates that uniforms, buses, lunches, trips and exam fees add about a sixth to a fifth to tuition.
